Privacy Policy

Overview

Chrome Notepad is built by users, for users. We prioritize your privacy above everything else. This policy explains how we handle your data when you use the Chrome extension, the web app, or our services.

1. Data Collection & Usage

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Account Information: We use Google OAuth to identify you. We store your email and full name.
• Note Content: Your notes are encrypted before being stored on our servers if you enable Cloud Sync. We cannot read your notes.
• Transaction Data: For paid plans, payments are processed by secure partners. We store only transaction status, never your card details.

2. Google Web Store Disclosures

Chrome Notepad complies with the Google Web Store User Data Policy. We disclose the following regarding the data types collected:

• Personally Identifiable Information: Collected only for account management (Email, Name).
• Financial Information: Used only for transaction validation for Premium features.
• Authentication Information: Secure tokens used for login persistence.
• Location: IP addresses logged only for security and abuse prevention.
• Privacy of Web Activity: We do not collect web history, user activity (clicks/scrolling on third-party sites), or website content.

Disclosure Certification:
• We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
• We do not use user data for purposes unrelated to note-taking.
• We do not use user data to determine creditworthiness.

Zoom Integration and Data Usage

Chrome Notepad accesses Zoom APIs to provide seamless video conferencing for tutoring sessions. Our use of information received from Zoom APIs adheres to Zoom's Marketplace Developer Agreement.

• Access: With your explicit consent, we access your Zoom account to create, manage, and retrieve meeting links for your spaces.
• Use: Zoom data is used strictly to display meeting links within the app and to synchronize tutoring sessions. We do not use this data for advertisements, and we do not sell this data.
• Storage: We securely store Zoom meeting links and room IDs to ensure fast loading and reliable access to your virtual classes. The actual video content and transcripts remain strictly within your Zoom account.
• Sharing: We do not share your Zoom integration data with any third parties, except as explicitly required to provide the scheduling functionality (e.g., displaying the join link to your students).

Google Workspace APIs and Google Calendar Data

Chrome Notepad accesses Google Calendar data to provide calendar synchronization and scheduling features. Our use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

• Access: With your explicit consent, we access your Google Calendar to read existing events to prevent double-booking, and write new events scheduled through Chrome Notepad.
• Use: Google Calendar data is used strictly to display your schedule within the app and to synchronize tutoring sessions and appointments. We do not use this data for advertisements, and we do not sell this data.
• Storage: We temporarily cache minimal event data (like event IDs and times) on our secure servers to ensure fast loading and reliable synchronization. The actual content of your Google Calendar events remains within your Google account.
• Sharing: We do not share your Google Calendar data with any third parties, except as explicitly required to provide the scheduling functionality (e.g., displaying available time slots to your students, which you control).

2. End-to-End Encryption (E2EE)

When you enable Protected Mode, your notes are encrypted locally on your device using a password only you know. The server only sees encrypted blobs of data. Even in the event of a total server breach, your notes remain unreadable.

3. Third-Party Services

We work with trusted partners to provide our service:

• Google OAuth: For secure authentication.
• Razorpay: For secure payment processing.
• Google Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics (optional).

4. Your Rights

You have the right to access, export, or delete your data at any time from within the application settings. If you choose to delete your account, all your notes and data will be permanently wiped from our servers immediately.
